PARCC/CMAS Assessment Schedule
posted Mar 10, 2017, 1:49 PM by Jennifer Seltz [ updated Mar 14, 2017, 10:19 AM by Mary Wilbur ]

Please see the schedule below for testing dates between 3/21/17 - 4/28/17.

PARCC testing will be held beginning on Tuesday March 21. We will test Wednesday and Thursday of the week, and be out for spring break the following week. We will resume testing on April 3, and have the Math and Language Arts test wrapped up by April 10th. For 8th grade students, we will begin the Science tests on April 11. We will be using a block style schedule to minimize the loss of instruction to students. A detailed schedule is available on our web site under school documents.

We ask for your support in this window of assessment by providing your child a healthy breakfast, and discussing with your child the importance of learning how to take standardized tests (with their future in mind), and talking to them about doing their best.

We will provide students with headphones for testing, but many students prefer their own. If your student wants to use their own headphones, please remind they will need them when they come to the testing sessions.

Cell phones are not allowed in the testing sessions. They will be collected from students at the beginning of the test, or they may leave them in their lockers. If you need to contact your student, please contact our main office.

Thank you for your support. PARCC/CMAS

Gifted Education Parent Seminar
posted Jan 13, 2017, 11:25 AM by Jennifer Seltz

GIFTED EDUCATION PARENT SEMINAR
Dr. Jennifer Ritchotte
Assistant Professor, UNC

February 27, 2017
6:30 – 8:00
1829 Denver West Drive, Building #27
Golden, CO 80401
5th Floor Boardroom

Seminar Description:

He just doesn’t care... It must be my fault... If only the teacher would…! Sometimes raising a gifted child takes a village. Blaming others or ourselves when issues arise is reactive and not proactive; it only gets us so far. This presentation is about replacing blame with effective collaboration and communication skills. We will learn more about how to work together to positively impact our gifted children’s lives!

About Dr. Ritchotte:

Dr. Jennifer Ritchotte is an assistant professor of Gifted and Talented Education at the University of Northern Colorado. Prior to this, she was an English teacher of gifted and talented students at the middle and secondary levels. Through publications, conference presentations (state, national, and international), and workshops, she advocates for the needs of gifted students, especially gifted underachievers.

Please see attached flyer for more information.

Parent Survey from our Counseling Department
posted Sep 16, 2016, 3:57 PM by Mary Wilbur [ updated Oct 17, 2016, 11:20 AM ]

"Dear Parents/Guardians:

Recently, your student had the opportunity to fill out a Needs Assessment Survey during their science or social studies class. The Needs Assessment Survey is comprised of about 45 questions that let the counseling department of the school know the needs that they have for the year, whether that be an academic, career or social and emotional need. We value the information in these surveys and distribute curriculum, groups and individual counseling based on the results of these surveys.

We also value what you believe you student is needing during these two years of middle school as well. To allow your voices to be heard, the counseling department has developed a Parent Survey. Please, take a moment (approximately 5 minutes) and copy and paste the following web address in your browser, to find the parent survey. https://sites.google.com/a/jeffcoschools.us/counseling-website/important-forms

If you will list your student's name in the survey, we will give your student a front of the line pass to use at lunch. Thank you for your time and we appreciate your feedback! Have a great day! --Creighton Middle School Counseling Department"
