Media Classes 



Audio/Visual Production

Semester
6/7/8 Grade

Audio/Visual Production courses provide to students the knowledge and skills necessary for television, video, film, and/or radio production. Writing scripts, camera operation, use of graphics and other visuals, lighting, audio techniques, editing, production principles, and career opportunities are typical topics covered within production courses. Students are usually required to produce their own program or segment. Additional topics such as broadcast industry regulations, radio/TV operation, power of the medium, photography, transmission technology, and so on may be included.

Publication Production (Yearbook)

Semester
7/8 Grade

Help create the written history of Creighton Middle School while learning valuable publishing, writing, and photography skills at the same time. Students eligible for Yearbook must have an A/B average, good attendance, demonstrate mature behavior, show initiative and responsibility, and have strong writing skills.

Media Literacy

Semester
6/7/8 Grade

Media Literacy is a 21st century approach to education. It provides a framework to access, analyze, evaluate, create, and participate with messages in a variety of forms - from print to video to the internet. Media literacy builds an understanding of the role of media in society, as well as essential skills of inquiry and self-expression that are necessary for citizens in a global, digital world. 


Film and Literature

Semester
6/7/8 Grade

Film and Literature is an academic elective for movie loves and those who are interested in diving into the construction of films. We look at camera angles, setting, symbolism, music, and much more! We have an opportunity to read a graphic novel along with watching the film adaptation to look at how directors take a book and make it into a blockbuster hit!
