Technology Education

Semester
6/7/8 Grades

Technology Education (6th grade) courses expose students to the tools and machines that they may encounter in manufacturing-related occupations and enable them to develop the skills they need to use these tools in various applications. Course topics typically include (but are not limited to) drawing and planning, electricity, graphic arts, woodwork, leatherwork, metalwork, plastics, and power technology. These courses typically cover general safety and career exploration as well.

Technology Education II

Semester
6/7/8 Grades
Technology Education (one semester) is the prerequisite to be in this course.

This more advanced Technology Education course exposes students to the tools and machines that they may encounter in manufacturing-related occupations and enables them to develop the more advanced skills they need to use these tools in various applications. This advanced course goes into more detail on topics, which typically include (but are not limited to) drawing and planning, electricity, graphic arts, woodwork, leatherwork, metalwork, plastics, and power technology. General safety and career exploration will be discussed as well.

Computer Science

Semester
6/7/8 Grades

In Computer Science, students will develop skills in topics such as problem solving, programming, building websites(using HTML and CSS) and debugging.  Students will learn coding to program animation, 3D modeling, digital photo editing, multimedia production, and robotics.This course can also include a student portfolio of digital work showing their creativity and problem-solving skill.

Digital Design I

Semester
6/7/8 Grades
Computer Science is a Pre-requisite to Digital Design.

In Digital Design I students make projects and solve problems in web design, game programming, 3D modeling, photo manipulation, and audio production. Students will develop a prototype to solve a problem in App Lab. Using the App Lab and Circuit Playground students will work on an innovative design challenge.  They will learn about professional practices and explore college and career paths in these areas, which might include class visits from current professionals. This course can also include a student portfolio of digital work showing their creativity and problem-solving skill.

Publication Productions: Magazine (Yearbook)

Semester
6/7/8 Grades

Help create the written history of Creighton Middle School, and learn valuable publishing, writing, and photography skills at the same time.  Students eligible for Yearbook must have an A/B average, good attendance, demonstrate responsible, mature behavior and strong writing skills.
