Social Studies- 8th Grade

​Students work on a variety of social studies topics.  Students determine historical meaning and context while activating and exploring their prior knowledge of the American Revolution and early foundations of American Democracy.  Students will understand the dynamic relationships between different groups of people and how social roles are challenged and changed.  Students will use the American Civil War as a backdrop to examine various facets of conflict between state and federal power.  Students will learn that Americans were faced with the challenge of rebuilding a society that had been divided by slavery and the political upheaval of war.
