Colorado Measures of Academic Success (CMAS)
The Colorado Department of Education (CDE) requires that students take the CMAS assessments annually, in grades three through eight and eleven. CMAS English Language Arts (ELA), Math, Science and Social Studies assessments were developed to measure grade level expectations, based on the Colorado Academic Standards.
Designed to be administered online, the state assessments feature a variety of interactive questions that are engaging and aligned with 21st-century teaching and learning practices. CMAS testing occurs annually in the spring.
The assessment meets state and federal testing requirements.

CMAS Parent/Guardian Communication
Hello Creighton Families –
We wanted to provide you some general information about our upcoming state assessments.
Beginning the week of April 6th, we will start our Colorado Measures of Academic Success or CMAS testing. This testing is required for all students in Colorado. This year, the testing schedule will be as follows:
- April 6th: ELA Test 1
- April 7th: Math Test 1
- April 8th: ELA Test 2
- April 9th: Math Test 2
- April 10th: ELA Test 3
- April 13th: Math Test 3
- April 20th: Science Testing for 8th Grade Only
One unit will be administered per day for each of the 6 days, starting around 9:13 AM. After testing, Creighton will begin the academic day - Our lunch block with periods 3 and 4, followed by periods 5, 6, 1 and 2. There will be no enrichment class during the testing window.
Of special note is that on April 20th, all 8th grade students will complete their Science testing over the course of the day. Due to the assessment, 6th and 7th Grade students will not attend school on April 20, 2024.
Because of the testing of all students at the same time, students will need to leave their Chromebook (Tech4ED device) and their charger at school beginning on Thursday, 4/2. We acknowledge that this may be inconvenient, but we will need to ready nearly 700 devices for testing the following Monday, and that takes some time. Please make sure that your student is prepared to leave their device at school.
