Intro to Skilled Trades

Intro to Skilled Trades exposes students to the tools and machines that they may encounter in manufacturing-related occupations. This course enables students to develop the skills they need to use these tools in various applications. Course topics typically include drawing and planning, electricity, graphic arts, woodwork, and power technology. General safety and career exploration are included in the curriculum.

Skilled Trades Intermediate

7/8 Grades

This course exposes students to the tools and machines that they may encounter in manufacturing-related occupations and develops the skills to use these tools in various applications. Course topics typically include drawing and planning, electricity, graphic arts, woodwork, and power technology. These courses build upon the skills taught in Intro to Skilled Trades and cover general safety, leadership, and career exploration. Intro to Skilled Trades is the prerequisite for this course.

Exploring Computer Science 1

Semester
6/7/8 Grades

Exploring Computer Science 1 is an introductory computer science course that empowers students to engage with computer science as a medium for creativity, communication, problem-solving, and fun. The course takes a wide lens on computer science by covering topics such as programming, physical computing, HTML/CSS, and data. The course inspires students as they build their own websites, apps, games, and physical computing devices.

Creative Computing

Semester
7/8 Grades

In this course, students will do projects and solve problems in web design, game programming, 3D modeling, photo manipulation, and audio production. Students will develop a prototype to solve a problem in App Lab. Using the App Lab and Circuit Playground, students will participate in an innovative design challenge. Students will also learn about professional practices and explore college and career paths in these areas, which might include class visits from current professionals. This course includes the creation of a student portfolio of digital work, showing their creativity and problem-solving skills. Exploring Computer Science 1 is a prerequisite to this course.

STEM Exploration 1

STEM Exploration 1 introduces students to STEM pathways. Students will explore a wide variety of STEM-related topics, including computer science, technical design, and engineering. Career exploration and leadership development will be emphasized throughout the course.


STEM Exploration 2

Semester
7/8

STEM Exploration 2 allows students to deeply explore STEM pathways. Students will apply STEM skills as they engage in sustained STEM-related projects, including computer science, technical design, and engineering. Career exploration and leadership development will be emphasized throughout the course.  STEM Exploration 1 is the prerequisite for this course.
